Dear Friends,
I am still catching my breath after Holy Week. There is no week in the Church year quite like it: the palms, the foot-washing, the long silence of Good Friday, the fire kindled in the dark at the Vigil. Each year it surprises me, and this year was no exception.
A few moments will stay with me for a long time. The children processing in with palms on Sunday morning, half of them taller than their parents remembered. The candlelight rippling across the nave at the Easter Vigil as our six elect were baptized, confirmed, and received Communion for the first time. The quiet in church on Good Friday afternoon... not an empty quiet, but a held one.
None of it happens by itself. Thank you to our liturgy team, our musicians, our sacristans, our ushers, our RCIA sponsors, and the many parishioners who prayed, fasted, and came. The Lord did something real among us this week. He always does.
A blessed Easter to you and yours.
In the Risen Christ,
Fr. Louis
